Meet Your City Council

The City of Sturgeon Bay is governed by a seven member Aldermanic Common Council. Each Alderperson is elected on a District/Ward basis. Alderpersons serve staggered two year terms. The Mayor is elected at large and serves a three year term.

The Mayor and Alderpersons are the leaders and policy makers in the city, elected to represent specific geographic segments of the city.

The Common Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall at 421 Michigan Street. During the months of June, July and August the Council meets at 8:00 p.m.

		Mayor Tom Voegele 427 North 16th Drive 746-4048 Tom Voegele's professional career began at a Respiratory Therapist in 1979. He worked for Luther and Sacred Heart Hospitals in Eau Claire Wisconsin. Several years later he switched his career from working in hospitals to working in the home medical equipment and services industry, managing several national companies in the Eau Claire area. In the mid 90's Mr. Voegele completed a degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He then moved his family to Lacrosse, WI and was the C.E.O. of a large independent pharmacy and home medical equipment business. In 1998 Mr. Voegele had an opportunity to fulfill a dream of owning his own business and partnered with Greg Rohde and Dave Kudlik at Bay Pharmacy in Sturgeon Bay, WI. In 2008 Mr. Rohde retired and Mr. Voegele became the majority owner of Bay Pharmacy. Mr Voegele's current partner is Pum Chairin a licensed pharmacist at Bay Pharmacy. April 5th of 2007 Mr. Voegele won the election for Mayor of Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin.

		District 1 Dan Wiegand 1155 North 4th Avenue 743-7145 I would like to thank you for your support of myself and also the City of Sturgeon Bay, a great place to live and work. I have lived in Sturgeon Bay all my life and enjoy the people, as well as its beauty. I am available by phone, evenings 7 - 9 p.m. and e-mail at danwiegand@hotmail.com. 		District 4 James Abeyta 863 South Lansing Avenue 746-6719 I would like to thank my constituents, fellow citizens, and friends for your support. To you, I promise to do the very best I know how and to keep doing so as long as I am in office. Thanks for the kindness you have extended to me and my family, not only during my tenure in office, but also my tenure in Sturgeon Bay. I have only lived here seven years, but my wife was born here, and our four children, ages 6 through 14, have been raised here. And although my time in Sturgeon Bay has been brief, I can't think of a better place to raise our children or to grow old.

		District 7 Thad Birmingham 909 Jefferson Place 746-9688 I was born and raised in Sturgeon Bay and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stout in 1982 with a degree in Industrial Technology. I am married to my wonderful wife, Kathleen and together we have two beautiful daughters, Stephanie and Meredith. I serve as the owner and president of Birmingham Builders Inc. and have been in the home construction business since 1984. While not serving as your alderman, I enjoy hunting, golfing and anything that involves the outdoors. I encourage anyone to contact me about concerns you may have or if you just want to talk about a particular issue. Your feedback is important as I work to serve the needs of District 7.
