Community Recreational Information

The City of Sturgeon Bay and the Door County YMCA are proud to announce a new partnership that will allow each entity to present to the community its own unique field of service.

This new partnership will bring a new level of excellence in service to residents of the community. It also means that there will be a change in the administration of recreational programs, previously provided by the City of Sturgeon Bay. The programs affected for the summer are tennis instruction and the half-day camp for youth.

As a direct result of the City's Ad Hoc Budget Review Committee recommendation, City officials recently determined that it would be prudent and responsible to utilize the YMCA for the recreation component. This would maximize the resources of the park professionals (City) in a progressive win/win situation for everyone.

For those who would like to sign up to participate in the summer programs that were previously administered and staffed by the City, simply call the Door County YMCA to get a registration form or visit their website. These programs are open to anyone in the community, and a Y membership is NOT required for participation in any YMCA program. Financial assistance is also available so that no one will be turned away, due to an inability to afford participation.
