Park Shelter Reservations
|
The shelter buildings at Sunset, Otumba,
Sawyer, and Cherry Blossom Parks are available to groups and citizens to reserve for
family gatherings, group parties, picnics, meetings, or other events.
Park
Shelter Reservations are on a first come basis and there is a fee required.
For additional information or to see if a specific date is available, contact
the Park and Recreation Department at 920-746-2914.

In addition to the fee, there is a
$50.00 refundable security deposit. This deposit will be returned to you
following inspection of the park after your reservation date.
An
Alcohol Public Consumption Permit
is available for the consumption of alcohol during your event (the sale of
alcohol is not allowed.) The fee for an Alcohol Public Consumption Permit is
$25.00 and is non-returnable. The party responsible for obtaining the permit
must apply for the permit at least one business day before the date of the
event. Application for this permit should be made at City Hall, 421 Michigan
Street
between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday.

Park Rules

No camping allowed in any park or
recreation area.
|
|
No pets allowed in the parks.
|
|
No glass containers allowed in the
parks.
|
|
No alcoholic beverages allowed in the
parks without a separate permit.

Bay View Park
|
A one acre park on the west side of
Sturgeon Bay at Madison Avenue and W. Larch Street. This is a great place to
relax, fish, view the waters of Sturgeon Bay, the shipbuilding industry, highway
bridge and boating activities. The area is handicapped accessible with ramped
fishing deck and viewing area at the end of the railroad spur. Picnic tables,
benches, and gazebo are available. This park has limited parking and there are
no restroom facilities available.

Franke Park
1700 Claybanks Road

This six and a half (6.5) acres park is
located on the southwest side of Sturgeon Bay at Clay Banks Road and Strawberry
Lane. This land was donated to the City by the Franke Family to be preserved in
its natural state, allowing for the opportunity to walk along the constructed
quarter mile path and enjoy the wetland area with signs identifying the natural
vegetation. The walking path is handicapped accessible from the parking area but
there are no restroom facilities. |
Garland Park
435 North 8th Avenue

The park is two (2) acres and is
located on Jefferson Street. It is the City’s oldest park, containing picnic
facilities and restrooms in a rustic setting. Although the restrooms are not
handicapped accessible, the park does have a 296 foot long wheelchair fitness
course containing parallel bars, chin-up bars, horizontal ladder and stretch
beam on the upper area of the park. |
Lawrence Big Hill Park
191 North 9th Avenue

This ten (10) acre park is located at
the end of North 9th Avenue. There is a small picnic area with a few
activity bars set in a grove of mature pine trees. Access from the park can be
gained by a stairway located on Jefferson Street across from Garland Park. There
are not any restroom facilities available. A small parking lot at North 9th
Avenue entrance is available. |
Martin Park
207 South 3rd Avenue

This is an approximately one (1) acre
park located on South 3rd Avenue. There are picnic tables and
children’s equipment for the public to enjoy.

Otumba Park
32 North Joliet Avenue
|
This three (3) acre park is located on
West Juniper and North Joliet Avenue on the west side of Sturgeon Bay.
Facilities include a picnic shelter building with restrooms, playground
equipment, beach area with lifeguard station, two (2) lighted tennis courts, one
(1) lighted basketball court, parking area and walkway connecting to the
waterfront. You’ll enjoy Otumba Park as you take in the beautiful view of the
adjacent shoreline looking towards Green Bay waters. |
Sunset Park
747 North 3rd Avenue

This is a forty one (41) acre park on
the east side of North 3rd Avenue, including eighteen (18) acre
Little Lake. Facilities include Frank Grasse Shelter building with restrooms
(limited handicapped accessibility), swimming beach, four
tennis courts (2 lighted), one basketball court, exercise course (1 - 1/3 miles
long with 11 stations), two lane launching ramps, transient docking pier (2 hour
limit), ½ mile walking, jogging, bike trail, six hole Frisbee Golf Course, and
two areas with playground equipment. Sunset Park is a popular location for shore
fishing or just enjoying the sunset over the Bay. |
Cherry Blossom Park
919 South Lansing Avenue

This park is approximately 5 ½ acres
located near the West Side Industrial Park on South Lansing Avenue. Handicapped
accessible facilities include a shelter building with restrooms, walking,
jogging, and biking trail. A volleyball court,
general purpose athletic field, play equipment, benches and picnic tables are
also available. |
Woodside Park

This is an approximate two acre park
located on the corner of Lansing Avenue and Hwy 42-57. This park has a 1/4 mile
walking/nature trail.

Little Creek Parkway
|
This 5.6 acres is located along South
16th Place. It has been left in a natural state with a walking path
to be constructed in the future. |
Waterfront Walkways
|
The public waterfront walkways are located
along the beautiful bay of Sturgeon Bay. Walkways are located on the east side
in front of Stone Harbor and also from Oregon and 1st Avenue to South Third
Avenue and on the west side in front of Bridgeport Report,
Applebee's
and the Maritime Museum.
